Looking Back: A 4/5-Star Review That Still Means So Much

By

Dear Readers,

I wanted to take a moment to share something special from the early days of my writing journey, back when I published Sole Silence under the pen name M.A.R.S.

Not long after its release, Sole Silence was reviewed by IndieReader, and I was both humbled and encouraged to receive a 4 out of 5 star rating. It was one of the first times I saw the story reflected through a professional critics lens, and the review stayed with me for a long time.

Here’s a line I’ll never forget:

M.A.R.S has a gift for complexity and, in Sole Silence, presents the reader with mind-bending themes that accomplish what only a few writers can do: leave the reader thinking about the story for days.

The review touched on themes I had quietly hoped would come through, how disconnection in the digital age can shape us and what it means to hold onto something human in a world that often forgets how.

They also described Tylor Reef, the main character, as “the most human—in the best sense of the word—of all the characters.” I still carry that sentence with me.

Although the name on the cover was different back then, the story was always written from the same place; honest emotion, and a hope that it would reach someone who needed it.

Thank you, as always, for being here.

With gratitude,
Maha (formerly M.A.R.S, now writing as I.M. Nameless)
